The gravel material is 14mm to dust which binds when compacted to form a surface which will remain firmer underfoot than conventional loose aggregate. This also creates a surface which is less susceptible to spreading and separating. Combining durability and low maintenance with the aesthetic qualities of natural stone, results in a neat natural finish which is a more appealing alternative to concrete or paving.
For best results dig out area to a depth of 6 to 10 inches, then add a stabilising membrane to minimise transfer of soil up through the aggregate. We recommend creating a sub-base layer using an aggregate such as type 1 or 20mm scalps and then the layer of self binding gravel goes on top of this.
Coverage: One bag of self-binding gravel will cover approximately 15m2 at the recommended 2 inch depth for footpaths. We would recommend 2 to 4 inch depth of self binding gravel on driveways.
Due to this being a natural product, we cannot guarantee the colour will always be the same.
Sold in our large bulk bags which hold 0.73m3 (roughly 1.2 Tonne of Self-Binding Gravel) or loose per Tonne. Please note you can now book bulk load deliveries online for up to 9 Tonne to be delivered loose within our delivery radius (see our Delivery costs page for more information) or you can collect as much or as little as you need from the Lawn & Landscape Centre.
